Why Do My Joints Ache?

If you’re 30+ and dealing with joint pains and lower back problems it is most likely due to our modern lifestyle replete with physical inactivity and muscle atrophy scientifically known as age-related sarcopenia. Loss of muscle means loss of strength and mobility. People who are physically inactive can lose as much as 3% to 5% of their muscle mass per decade after 30. Joint pain in the knees, hips, shoulders, elbows and wrists are very often caused by sarcopenia or muscle atrophy. Without proper musculature supporting the skeletal system too much bone on bone pressure causes pain while performing common tasks like walking. The longer this continues the more cartilage is worn away and ultimately may require a surgical solution.

Why Do I Have Chronic Lower Back Pain?

Lower back pain is often caused by inactivity. Too much sitting at desks, driving and watching TV is a cause of muscle loss and generates poor posture, weakening our backs. This too can quickly be reversed with proper posture and exercise designed to strengthen posture.

The primary treatment for sarcopenia is exercise and strength training. For most, joint pain relief can be achieved quickly, within two weeks, through a muscle building regimen. Strength training will also improve the neuromuscular system, hormone concentrations and protein synthesis rate.
